Habitat Weasels can be found living on farmland, around farm buildings, park land, and waste ground where there is a suitable and plenty of prey . Distribution in the uk Can be found all over the uk but not in Scotland and not common in Ireland. Months seen All year round more commonly seen in the summer and after harvest in the autumm. Food eaten Weasels eat rabbits mice,voles,birds eggs and there young. Habits Females are much smaller than male weasels and have varying pattern on there white underside. Weasels have long thin bodies perfect for getting down small holes for there prey when hunting they sit upright to look around and smell the air for its quarry.They have very alert senses and also chatter loudly and make a strong smell if scared .If threatened they hiss and lunge at the threat and are active at night and in the day. Weasels have territorys that are about 10 to 15 acres and tend to live close to rabbit warrens so they have an unlimited food sorce. Tracking Weasels tracks are hard to find and do not show up in snow as they seem to look smudged and also they mark there territories are marked using musk secreted from there anal glands try watching rabbit warrens for hunting weasels in the summer dragging there prey back to feed there young and they maylead you to there den . Courtship Weasels give birth in April to may and have 1 to 2 litters a year and 4 to 6 young per litter which can breed after there first summer this usually happens in early summer they are very playful and comedic as they roll around which does not last long as thay are fully grown after 12 weeks but most weasels do not survive longer than a year as they have many predators but are also trapped by man as vermin or killed on our roads when hunting in hedgerows.
